China is ThyssenKrupp's most important market in Asia. Currently we employ more than 8,000 people there in our local subsidiaries and Representative Offices. The Group's sales to customers in China amounted to almost €1.5 billion in fiscal year 2008/2009. From steel mills to elevators, steering columns to corrosion protection, we have a wide spectrum of activities in China.

The country represents an attractive market for our technologically advanced, high-quality products and services.
In September 2008, ThyssenKrupp VDM opened a new service center in Guangzhou which, in addition to the Chinese market, will also supply the markets in Japan, Korea and Australia with sheet and bars made of nickel alloys. In order to realize synergies, the new service center is integrated into the site of its sister company ThyssenKrupp Stainless International.

ThyssenKrupp’s wide-ranging activities in China are concentrated in a national holding company which is registered in Beijing.
